The 2025 World Series will begin Friday in MLB between the National League champion Dodgers and American League champion Toronto. The Blue Jays won the American League for the first time since 1993.

Former Tennessee baseball pitching coach Jason Beverlin was part of Toronto’s organization from 2017-20. He was a regional scout for the Blue Jays and was in charge of scouting areas of North Carolina and South Carolina.

After a stint with the Vols from 2010-11, Beverlin served as a head coach at Bethune-Cookman. He guided Bethune-Cookman to four NCAA Tournament regionals and four MEAC Tournament titles from 2012-17.

Beverlin was hired as Georgia Southern’s pitching coach in June following the 2025 college baseball season.

Prior to Georgia Southern, he was also a pitching coach for Coastal Carolina from 2022-24. Coastal Carolina led the Sun Belt in both strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.54) and fewest walks allowed per nine innings (3.58), while ranking fourth in the conference for WHIP (1.40) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.1) in 2022.

The former Tennessee assistant coach played for Cleveland and Detroit in MLB, and was selected in the fourth round of the 1994 MLB draft by the Athletics. He was traded to the Yankees, along with Ruben Sierra, for Danny Tartabull. Beverlin also played professional baseball in Japan.
