The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Toronto Blue Jays, 11-4, on Friday evening as they dropped Game 1 of the World Series. The sixth-inning barrage from the Blue Jays featured the first pinch-hit grand slam in World Series history, and the most runs scored (9) in a single inning of a World Series game in 57 years.

In other news, Alex Vesia has an update as it was announced that he is away from the team due to a “deeply personal family matter.” The southpaw was left off the World Series roster as manager Dave Roberts provided the latest ahead of the eventual loss.

Finally, Tanner Scott’s World Series status was also revealed by Roberts. The left-handed reliever was removed from the NLDS roster to undergo a lower-body abscess procedure and appears to still be off the roster for health reasons.

The Dodgers coming to Toronto and losing a hard-fought Game 1 after having a week off would’ve been one thing.

To give up 9 runs in a single inning is something else entirely.
