Breaking down the Brewers’ Game 2 loss to the Dodgers in the NLCS

JR Radcliffe and Dominique Yates recap the Brewers’ 5-1 loss to the Dodgers to fall to 0-2 in the NLCS.

Both fans at the center of a controversial interaction, where a Milwaukee Brewers fan says she is going to “call ICE” on a Los Angeles Dodgers fan have been banned from American Family Field.

The Brewers issued a statement Oct. 16 after video emerged online of a former attorney at Manpower Group and board member of Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, Shannon Kobylarczyk, telling a Latino Los Angeles resident, Ricardo Fosado, that she was going to report him to Immigration and Customs Enforcement during Game 2 of the National League Championship Series.

“The Brewers expect all persons attending games to be respectful of each other, and we do not condone in any way offensive statements fans make to each other about race, gender, or national origin. Our priority is to ensure that all in attendance have a safe and enjoyable experience at the ballpark,” the Brewers said.

The Brewers said Fosado was ejected and “dealt with” the Milwaukee Police Department for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He told the Journal Sentinel Oct. 16 that he was not cited by police.

“Ushers came to my seats, asked me for my tickets to verify that those were my seats, I’m assuming, and then asked me to follow them,” Fosado said in a text. “When my partner returned from the restroom, he asked why we were getting kicked out (and) they responded ‘because he’s acting like a Dodgers fan.'”

The Oct. 14 video shows Fosado stand up to record on his cellphone to egg on a quiet crowd at American Family Field after Enrique “Kiké” Hernandez hit a leadoff double in the 7th inning.

“Real men drink beer, (expletive),” Kobylarczyk yells toward Fosado, who was holding a Happy Thursday spiked refresher.

“Why is everyone so quiet?” Fosado asks.

Then, while nudging the person in front of her, Kobylarczyk responds, “Ya know what? Let’s call ICE.”

Fosado responds that he is a U.S. citizen and a veteran of two wars. “Call ICE, call them,” he said. “You (expletive) idiot.”

Kobylarczyk then swipes toward the fan and the camera.

“Video shows that the other individual involved in the argument became physical in the course of her interactions with the person who was ejected,” the Brewers said.

“For these reasons and in accordance with our Guest Code of Conduct specific to ejections and physical confrontations, both fans are being notified that they are not allowed to return to the ballpark for future events.”

After the video emerged, Manpower Group said in a statement that Kobylarczyk was “no longer with the organization,” while Make-A-Wish Wisconsin confirmed that she resigned from the board on Oct. 15. Kobylarczyk hasn’t responded to a request for comment.

Fosado previously told the Journal Sentinel that Kobylarczyk reported him to security for swearing at her. He’s a U.S. citizen of Mexican heritage who served in the U.S. Navy from 2001 to 2005. He said he signed up for the military after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“This is my first time at a Brewers game and I got kicked out, but you know what?” Fosado asked. “I had a great experience and everybody was really friendly and welcoming. So I don’t take that one incident and label the whole entire day bad.”

Game 3 of the series is set for Oct. 16 at 5:08 p.m. from Dodger Stadium.
