The Blue Jays are up 1-0 after pouring on 9 runs in the game-changing sixth inning of Friday’s Game 1. The Dodgers jumped ahead 2-0 early thanks to 1 run in the second and another in the third. But in the fourth, the tenor of the game changed and Toronto took full control. Center fielder Daulton Varsho scored 2 with a game-tying home run in the fourth, and the flood gates opened from there. There were 12 batters in the sixth inning and two homered as Addison Barger delivered a pinch0hit grand slam and catcher Alejandro Kirk had a 2-run shot in his second plate appearance of the inning.

Shohei Ohtani closed the night’s scoring with a 2-run homer in the seventh, but it was too little too late as Blake Snell got tagged with his first loss of the postseason and Los Angeles lost just its second game in October.

On Saturday, the pitching matchup is Yoshinobu Yamamoto (1.83 ERA, 0.86 WHIP over 19.2 postseason innings) for the Dodgers and Kevin Gausman (2.00 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 18 postseason innings) for the Blue Jays in a battle between pitchers who are both 2-1 this postseason.
