The fan favorite has now played in 87 postseason career games for the Dodgers following his performance in World Series Game 2. Hernandez surpassed longtime Dodger Justin Turner, who played 86 playoff games for the Dodgers throughout his career.
Chris Taylor and Max Muncy rank third and fourth on the list, respectively.
Hernandez struggled at the plate in Game 2, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. However, there isn’t any doubt the utility man will bounce back in the proceeding games of the Fall Classic as the series heads back to Los Angeles.
Hernandez has earned a reputation as one of October’s biggest stars and the utility man spoke about the Dodgers’ goal after their 5-1 win Saturday night.
“Hopefully we only have to play 3 more,” Hernandez said.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a complete game for the defending champions, his second consecutive complete game in the postseason. It was a historic masterclass by the right-hander.
The Dodgers have evened the series after taking Game 2 at the Rogers Centre, and will play the next three games of the Fall Classic at Dodger Stadium. Game 3 of the World Series is on Monday, Oct. 26.
