Mainland Regional High School alum Chase Petty made his Major League debut this season, reaching the big leagues on April 30th against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Petty burst onto the South Jersey baseball scene as a pitcher at Mainland, routinely firing a 100 MPH fastball, which drew the attention of big league scouts.
Chase Petty Reaches the Majors
He ended up getting three starts for the Cincinnati Reds this summer, going 0-3 with a 19.50 ERA, striking out seven batters in six innings. Overall, in five minor league seasons, Petty continues to dazzle with his electric fastball, which helped him get selected in the first round of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
Giving Back Through the Chase Petty Foundation
Petty is just 22 years of age, but he has never forgotten where he came from and started the Chase Petty Foundation in 2023, two years after graduating from Mainland, to help not only make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children in Millville, but also to raise funds to empower the youth where Petty spent much of his childhood.
