Michigan takes on Illinois in the first game of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament on Tuesday morning.
The Big Ten Baseball Tournament kicks off Tuesday morning with the Michigan Wolverines taking on the Illinois Fighting Illini. The Big Ten Tournament adopted a new format this year and will have four groups of three teams competing in pool play. The Wolverines and Fighting Illini are joined by No. 2 seed UCLA in pool play. The Wolverines earned the No. 7 seed, while the Fighting Illini are the No. 11 seed. The Wolverines finished the regular season 33-21 and 16-14 in the Big Ten. They played the Fighting Illini in a three-game series back in early March. They won the first two games to clinch the series, but couldn’t finish off the sweep and lost the finale 6-2. The Wolverines come into the tournament having lost their last two series to Nebraska and Indiana. They dropped the first two games of both series, but took the finale to avoid the sweep.
