I value sleep highly. Having multiple small children that are involved in travel sports and other competitions, my wife and I are on the go constantly. If we’re not going to one practice or game, we’re going to another. It means rest is valued quite a bit.
So when I sit down to watch a baseball game, I can usually count on 2-3 hours of relaxation to take in the action, strategy and unfolding storylines in front of me. Last night had plenty. The back and forth nature of it, Shohei Ohtani showing why he is greatest player to ever play the game, all of it was fun. However, I made the decision to go to bed after the ninth inning. I had no desire to make it to the end.
Here’s my question though: do you even like marathon games like we saw last night in Game 3? As you know by now, it went 18 innings, tied for the longest postseason game ever and saw yet another Freddie Freeman walkoff home run. But I missed the middle parts, the slog of innings 13, 14 and 15. I would have loved to have seen what each manager was thinking as the game plowed on, but alas, sleep.
