BATON ROUGE — Catholic High School has announced the appointment of Jason Sullivan as its new head baseball coach, ushering in a new era for the Panthers following their 2025 Division III Select State Championship win.
Known affectionately as “Coach Sully,” Sullivan is no stranger to the program. Over the past three seasons, he has served as the team’s pitching coach, where his leadership and technical expertise helped produce three All-District pitchers and one All-State honoree. His contributions have been key to Catholic High’s recent success, including back-to-back district titles in 2024 and 2025.
In addition to his coaching credentials, Sullivan brings a wealth of leadership experience from outside the diamond. With more than 15 years in the oil and gas industry as a technical sales engineer, he managed international operations and rose swiftly into leadership roles. For the past eight years, he has served as a Chief Building Official. His professional background, combined with a lifelong passion for baseball, has shaped his coaching philosophy, which emphasizes accountability, teamwork, and character development.
Sullivan also plays a role in developing youth talent as part of Team Action Baseball, a competitive travel program that operates across multiple states. His commitment to player development and mentorship has made him a respected figure not only within Catholic High but throughout the greater baseball community.
A standout athlete in his own right, Sullivan was a three-time All-State selection in Missouri and was named Male Student Athlete of the Year at Joplin High School. His high school teams earned a spot in the Missouri High School Baseball Hall of Fame. Drafted twice by the Chicago White Sox, Sullivan began his college career at Crowder College before transferring to Nicholls State University, where he graduated in 2007.
Sullivan expressed his excitement about the opportunity, saying, “I am eager to leverage my leadership experience and commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the field. Catholic High School holds a special place in my heart, as my children attend and I truly bleed red and white. The sense of pride and family atmosphere this school provides is unparalleled.”
Beyond the field, Sullivan remains active in the school community. He currently serves on the Catholic High School Advisory Council and plays a leadership role in the school’s Leadership Workshop program.
As Catholic High prepares for the next chapter in its storied baseball tradition, the program and its supporters are optimistic that Coach Sullivan’s leadership will guide the team to continued success on and off the field.
