The White Sox improved by 19 wins from the 2024 to the 2025 season, marking significant improvement. Additionally, the White Sox played much better than a 60-102 team for most of the second half, as they had some important contributions from the rookies on the roster.
As we dissect the 2025 season, we will take a look at how each player performed, as well as their outlook for 2026 and beyond. The next player we will take a look at will be Chase Meidroth.
Meidroth was one of the pieces that came to Chicago from Boston in the Garrett Crochet trade, as he was expected to make a contribution in Chicago at some point early in the season for the White Sox.
This was exactly the case, as Meidroth made his MLB debut against his former organization on April 11th. He would go 1 for 1 with three walks, a game that exemplified Meidroth’s forte in the minor leagues last season.
Meidroth would go on to play 122 games for the White Sox, accumulating 1.2 WAR in the that timeframe, according to Baseball Reference. He finished the season hitting .253 with a .329 OBP, adding five homeruns, 23 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases.

This was a very solid season for Meidroth, as he was projected to make an immediate impact for the White Sox. He showcased elite bat to ball skills, as according to Baseball Savant, he ranked in the 99th percentile in squared up percentage, in the 84th percentile in chase percentage, in 96th percentile in whiff percentage, and the 88th percentile in strikeout percentage.
This is exactly what you wanted to see out of Meidroth, as he profiled as the perfect leadoff hitter. You want someone with the ability to get on base and take pitches, something that Meidroth now showed he can do in the major leagues. He will likely slot in as the leadoff hitter and play second base for the White Sox in 2026.
Meidroth also showed he could play the field, as he was in the 80th percentile of outs above average according to Baseball Savant. The White Sox wanted to improve their defense up the middle, and now with Montgomery and Meidroth, they have one of the better double play duos in the major leagues.
I would grade Meidroth’s 2025 season out as a B+ as he met and exceeded most of the expectations laid out for him before the season. He showed he could make an impact at the top of the lineup and he will continue to do so in 2026. He has been everything the White Sox hoped Nick Madrigal would be when they selected him 4th overall just a few years ago, as they have seemingly solved their never ending second base problem.
