When the Blue Jays were looking to add to their impressive 2025 club at the deadline, they prioritized finding a pitcher who had the ceiling of an ace.
While Shane Bieber didn’t dominate last night, he turned in an outing characteristic of an ace.
Bieber got into the 6th inning against an offense that’s getting paid roughly 937 million US dollars, and allowed just one run. He walked 3, but allowed just 4 hits. And even 3 walks isn’t as bad as it sounds because one of them was to Shohei Ohtani, who had just gotten on base 10 PA in a row (making it 11).

And if you thought I was done making you #feelthings, Nathan Lukes was 2-for-3, Ernie Clement was 2-for-4 with a slugged double, and Andres Gimenez was 1-for-3 with a key RBI insurance hit.
Take solace in the fact that Myles Straw has still been swinging his wet newspaper this series. It’s mind-blowing how bad he is at the plate. Somehow he hit .262 this regular season.
