The White Sox improved by 19 wins from the 2024 to the 2025 season, marking significant improvement. Additionally, the White Sox played much better than a 60-102 team for most of the second half, as they had some important contributions from the rookies on the roster.
As we dissect the 2025 season, we will take a look at how each player performed, as well as their outlook for 2026 and beyond. The next player we will take a look at will be utility-man Brooks Baldwin.
Baldwin made his MLB debut with the White Sox last season, as he played in 33 games in 2024. In those games, he hit .211 with a .250 OBP, adding two homeruns and eight RBIs. Baldwin made the Opening Day roster in 2025, as his positional versatility is helpful to any baseball team.
Baldwin started the season on the right foot, as through the first month of the season he hit .260 with three homeruns and 13 RBIs. However, he hit a rough patch in the middle of May and was optioned to AAA.
Baldwin bounced back between AAA, Chicago, and the IL, as he played in just 17 major league games between May 18th and August 2nd. However, from August 2nd on, Baldwin got significant playing time and played well.
In August, Baldwin hit .270 with a .325 OBP in 74 at-bats. He added four homeruns and four RBIs. In 56 at-bats in September, Baldwin hit .268 with a .328 OBP, adding two homeruns and 10 RBIs. This was a much better stretch for Baldwin, as he is only 25 with very little MLB experience.

Overall, Baldwin hit .240 with a .290 OBP, adding 11 homeruns, 38 RBIs, and five stolen bases over 103 games. This was a solid effort at the plate for Baldwin, as he showed off his power. He seems like he could be on the same path as Lenyn Sosa, as they both tore up the minor leagues, but struggled in their first few shots at the MLB.
Despite the ability to play multiple infield positions and the outfield, the advanced metrics did not like Baldwin’s glove. Baseball Savant had him at -11 outs above average, which was among the worst in the league. This hurt his overall WAR, as Baseball Reference had him at -.6 WAR.
While Baldwin improved at the plate, he will need to improve in the field if he wants to keep his spot in Chicago. I would grade his season out as a C+, as he showed flashes but there are still areas of his game he needs to clean up. This season will be big for him, as if he wants to continue with this core of players he will need to be a much better fielder. Baldwin will likely open up the season up on the roster as the utility player barring any free agent acquisitions.
