Philadelphia Phillies star Kyle Schwarber’s 56 home runs and league-leading 132 RBI earned him the top recognition from his MLB peers.
Kyle Schwarber Named National League Outstanding Player
The MLB Players Association announced Wednesday that Schwarber was voted as the National League Outstanding Player over Shohei Ohtani in the 2025 Players’ Choice Awards, which were voted on in September by active MLB players.
Phillies History of Players’ Choice Award Winners
Schwarber becomes the third Phillies player to win the award, joining Ryan Howard, who won the award during his MVP season in 2006, and Bryce Harper, who won the award during his MVP 2021 season.
Schwarber is now a free agent, and it will be interesting to see if the Phillies are able to sign him to return to Philadelphia. According to former MLB GM Jim Bowden of The Athletic, he predicts Schwarber to garner a deal for five years and worth $160 million.
Schwarber’s Record-Breaking 2025 Season by the Numbers
The 32-year-old was All-Star Game MVP in July, and his 56 home runs place him second for the most in a single season in team history, behind Howard’s 58 in 2006. He also became just the 21st player in MLB history to hit four home runs in a game on August 28 against the Braves. He also set a Major League record for most home runs hit by a left-handed hitter against a left-handed pitcher with 23 long balls this year.

Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola also captured a Player Choice Award for the Philanthropist of the Year, as voted by his peers in the 2025 Players’ Choice Awards.
