One Catonsville couple took their love for the Orioles to a whole new level when they tied the knot last weekend.Blood runs orange for Catonvsille natives Syd and Brad Singleton.”We’ve always been huge O’s fans. Both families are season ticket holders. We got engaged on opening day this year,” said Syd Singleton.The ring on top of a ballpark hot dog led to a special guest walking down the aisle five months later.Clancy Haskett, a famous Oriole Park staple, made a grand entrance on the newlyweds’ big day last Saturday.”I’ve been serving his father and his mother since like 1979, back at the old Baltimore Civic Center, and they’ve been my regular customers ever since,” Haskett said.”The season tickets are in Clancy’s section, and he takes care of us and is always electric — every time. I don’t know if I had the idea, if you had the idea, but it was like, ‘It would be funny if he came down the aisle handing out beers,” said Brad Singleton.So that’s exactly what Haskett did.”Everyone was pumped up, and I think it helped everyone. Weddings can be serious. We’re not serious people. So, I think it helped you, and I think it helped everybody else,” said Syd Singleton.The Baltimore theme didn’t start and end with Haskett, though.”There’s a player, Ken Singleton, that played for the O’s, and he was our table number,” said Syd Singleton. “We had Clancy, we had Ken Singleton as our table number, and we had the bird come at our reception. So, all O’s themed things, and people loved it.””It was just perfect. It worked, it worked out for all of us,” Haskett said of the timing of the wedding.”If the O’s were in the playoffs this year, we probably wouldn’t have had The Oriole Bird or Clancy. The one good thing about them not being in the playoffs this year is we got both of them,” said Syd Singleton.They’re hopeful their future anniversaries will include an Orioles playoff game.”Hopefully, in future Octobers, Clancy and the bird are not available for weddings, and they’re at Camden Yards,” Brad Singleton said.At Camden Yards with Haskett serving up drinks and creating more memories for fans.”It was honestly an honor to have him there,” Syd Singleton said. “It’s something that we’ll remember forever.”
