As the Toronto Blue Jays hope to bring home the first World Series title in more than 30 years, third baseman Ernie Clement is making a little bit of history. With a pair of singles in Game 7 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Clement has now tied the single-season record for postseason hits, with 29.
Clement’s first single came in the second inning, with the infielder sending the ball into center field on his first at-bat. He then hit another in the sixth inning.

Right after Clement’s second hit, Andrés Giménez hit a double that sent Clement home to grow the Blue Jays’ lead to 4-2.
Clement ties a record set by Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena, who had 29 postseason hits during the 2020 playoffs, on the way to Tampa Bay Rays’ World Series appearance. The Rays were ultimately unsuccessful in the final series, losing to the Dodgers.
Clement’s Blue Jays teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is right behind him on the list, heading into Saturday’s game with 28 hits this postseason. Guerrero is 0-3 on the night so far, but was intentionally walked in the third inning right before Bo Bichette hit a three-run go-ahead homer.
