MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – On November 2, 1974, the Atlanta Braves traded baseball hall-of-famer “Hammerin’” Hank Aaron to the Milwaukee Brewers. This trade brought Aaron back to the city he played his first 12 seasons.
When Aaron received the call, he was halfway across the world in Tokyo, Japan competing in a home run derby contest.
In the early morning hours of November 2, “Hammerin’ Hank” received a call from Brewers’ President Bud Selig telling him he was coming back to Milwaukee to play for the Brewers.
Aaron said he was happy to be coming back, as he played his first 12 seasons for the Milwaukee Braves before they relocated to Atlanta.
He would play two more seasons in Milwaukee before calling it a career, cementing a legacy as one of the the all-time greats in the sport.
