Our latest Reacts survey took on another daunting question related to last week’s: With many holes to fill looking ahead to the 2026 White Sox roster, where should the front office concentrate its efforts to improve?
The answers were a bit surprising. If you believe that the more robust offense of the second half quells position player concerns, then a focus on arms makes sense. But given the relative importance of the bullpen (even vs. the rotation itself, which is weak!) to the offensive woes of 2025, these results were eye-opening:
To review, the thing fans complained an awful lot about when former GM Rick Hahn splurged year after year is the thing we need to most improve for 2026.
It’s worth reminding that a bit reason the pitching staff was taxed and the relievers often failed was due to offensive ineptitude, plain and simple. A pitching staff will falter if stretched to the limit every game out, and these were the circumstances — even in the second half — the arms found themselves in.
