ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson has taken home the Gold Glove award at first base for the third time in his career, Rawlings announced Sunday.
Shortstop Nick Allen fell short as a finalist for the award. St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn beat out Allen for his first career Gold Glove award.
Though he’s earned the award twice before (2018-19) with the Athletics, this Gold Glove was Olson’s first as a Brave.
The veteran led the NL first basemen with 17 defensive runs saved, equaling the highest total by a first baseman over the past 15 seasons. This — not to mention his .996 fielding percentage and seven outs above average — awarded Olson his fifth Fielding Bible Award, an honor given to the best defender at each position across both leagues annually.
Olson is the first Brave to win it at the first base position since Freddie Freeman in 2018.

He won the award over Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper and Cincinnati’s Spencer Steer.
Nick Allen falls short of GG
Allen provided a few wow-like plays at the shortstop position this season for Atlanta.
However, his lack of offensive productivity (.535 OPS) cost him the starting spot at the likes of Ha-Seong Kim during the last month of the season.
