The Boston Red Sox have decisions to make on several players this offseason.

Alex Bregman and Trevor Story are among those players, as is Lucas Giolito and Dustin May.

Baseball America released its list of Top 50 players that could be available this winter and projected what kind of contract they will receive.

Four members of the 2025 Red Sox:

Alex Bregman — 6 years, $180 millionTrevor Story — 4 years, $110 millionLucas Giolito — 3 years, $65 millionDustin May — 1 year, $15 million

Bregman informed the Red Sox on Monday that he will opt out of his contract and test the free agent market when it officially opens on Thursday. The third baseman will forgo the final two years of the three-year, $120 million deal.

The Red Sox will explore bringing Bregman back, but he will certainly garner plenty of interest from other teams.

Story has until Thursday to make his decision. MassLive reported the Red Sox are optimistic the shortstop won’t opt out and will play out the remaining two years and $55 million on his deal.

Story had a productive season in 2025 with 25 home runs and 96 RBI. He was also fully healthy and played in 157 games after playing just 26 games in 2024 due to a shoulder injury and 43 games in 2023 due to an elbow injury. Both injuries required surgery.

As for Giolito, he declined his end of the mutual option. It’s possible Boston offers the pitcher a qualifying offer. The pitcher dealt with an elbow injury that kept him off the American League Wild Card roster, but amassed a 3.41 ERA, 10-4 record and 121 strikeouts in 26 starts.

May was acquired by Boston at the trade deadline and was overall disappointing. In five starts, the righty compiled a 1-4 record, 5.40 ERA. He gave up 17 earned runs in 28⅓ innings pitched for the Red Sox. May also dealt with an elbow injury that landed him on the inured list in September. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Boston did not bring him back for 2026.
