The Detroit Tigers had an amazing start to the first half of the 2025 season.
At one time they were leading the American League Central Division by 15.5 games before blowing that lead and finishing 2nd behind the Cleveland Guardians.
Despite the 2nd half setback, the Tigers were still able to make it to the playoffs.
Unfortunately they were eliminated by the Seattle Mariners.

While the Tigers didn’t win the World Series, there were some amazing accomplishments on the field.
One of those players being recognized for his incredible season is Detroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler, who won a Golden Glove Award.

The Golden Glove recognizes the best player in each defensive position.

To determine the winners at these nine positions, the 30 Major League managers and up to six coaches from each team vote from a pool of players in their league, excluding players from their own team.
These votes make up 75 percent of the selection total, with a SABR Defensive Index counting for the other 25 percent.
Voting takes place at the end of the regular season, and playoff performance does not factor in.
When it came down to the position of Catcher Dingler beat out Toronto’s Alejandro Kirk and Boston’s Carlos Narváez.
Dingler spoke with media after winning the award and how much it means to him:
“This award is one of those things I always dreamed of, to be honest, I feel like any person that takes a lot of pride in their defensive ability coming up, this is kind of the holy grail of awards that they can receive, especially with the season, the way it ended up. Feeling good about the performance I put out there, having this to show for it is awesome.”
