Chicago Cubs pitcher Cade Horton was rewarded for a stellar 2025 season after he was named a finalist for National League Rookie of the Year.
Horton posted an 11-4 record in 23 appearances this season, and was a key contributor toa Cubs pitching staff that drove the team to their first playoff appearance since the 2020 season.
Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin, who clubbed 19 home runs and drove in 80 RBI’s, was also named a finalist, as was Milwaukee Brewers infielder Caleb Durbin, who hit 11 home runs and stole 18 bases for the Brewers in 445 total at-bats.
Horton had a dazzling rookie campaign for the Cubs that was cut short by a fractured rib that he suffered near the tail end of the regular season, leaving him unable to pitch in the postseason.
Horton had a record of 11-4 with a 2.67 ERA, with 97 strikeouts and a 1.085 WHIP in 118 innings pitched.
He was especially lethal in the second half of the season for the Cubs, yielding just a .154 batting average and a .213 on-base percentage in his final 12 appearances of the regular season.
Horton is looking to become the first Cubs player to win Rookie of the Year honors since Kris Bryant won the award in the 2015 season.
Other Cubs to win Rookie of the Year include catcher Geovany Soto, pitcher Kerry Wood, and outfielder Billy Williams.
The winner of National League Rookie of the Year will be revealed on Monday, November 10.
