Seven Houma-Thibodaux area high schools qualified for the 2025 LHSAA baseball playoffs.
Of those seven, all of them won at least a game, while six won at least one series. Of those six, three made it to Sulphur. And while none of those three won a state championship, one came within one game of doing so.
Covenant Christian
The Lions entered the Division IV select playoffs as the undefeated top seed, and pulled off back-to-back wins over No. 16 St. Martin’s Episcopal, 4-0, and No. 8 St. Frederick, 11-1, to advance to Sulphur. But at state, CCA was upset by No. 12 Ouachita Christian, 12-7.
E.D. White
The No. 7 Cardinals started the Division II select playoffs with a 2-1 series win over No. 10 Acadiana Renaissance Charter, then won four straight in back-to-back sweeps of No. 2 St. Charles and No. 6 Archbishop Hannan to clinch a spot in the state championship. However, EDW lost the series to No. 1 Teurlings Catholic, 2-1.
Houma Christian
The No. 14 Warriors opened the Division III select playoffs with a sweep of No. 19 Patrick Taylor Science/Tech, 2-0. However, HCS was eliminated after being swept by No. 3 Pope John Paul II, 2-0.
St. James
The Wildcats claimed the No. 16 seed in Division III non-select, and opened the tournament with a 2-0 sweep of No. 17 Winnfield. But SJHS was swept in the second round, 2-0, by top seed and eventual state champion Sterlington.
South Terrebonne
The No. 13 Gators opened the Division II select tournament in dominant fashion, sweeping 20-seed Jennings, 2-0, with run-rule wins in both games. However, STHS was swept by No. 4 West Ouachita, 2-0, in the second round.
Thibodaux
The Tigers were only the 24-seed in Division I non-select, but despite winning a game, still lost to No. 9 Walker in the first round, 2-1.
Vandebilt Catholic
The Terriers claimed the 5-seed in Division II select, and pulled off consecutive 2-0 sweeps of No. 12 The Willow School and No. 4 Buckeye to clinch a spot in Sulphur. Their run came to an end in the semifinals as they were swept, 2-0, by Teurlings Catholic.
