According to reports, Flaherty has exercised his $20 million contract in the process.
Flaherty recently signed with Detroit on a two-year contract worth $35 million before the start of his 2025 return to the Tigers.
The 30-year-old struggled this season behind projected back-to-back Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, finishing with an 8-15 record, a 4.64 ERA, and a 1.280 WHIP in 31 starts.
Flaherty also struck out 188 batters in 161 innings during his second stint with the organization.
The 2024 World Series champion was missed after the Midsummer Classic in 2024, as the Tigers traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
During his first stint, Flaherty posted a 6-2 record to go along with a 2.95 ERA in 18 starts.
Flaherty will look to bounce back and help the Tigers reach the playoffs for the third consecutive season as the offseason is in full effect.
