Hear Misiorowski talk about staying positive despite the Brewers 3-game deficit in the NLCS

Hear Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski talk about staying positive despite the Brewers 3-game deficit in the NLCS.

The Milwaukee Brewers declined options on the contracts of three players on Nov. 4, sending two to free agency while re-entering the arbitration process with the third.

Unsurprisingly, first baseman Rhys Hoskins and starting pitcher José Quintana had the team end of the their mutual options declined. Hoskins’ mutual option was worth $18 million for 2026 and the Brewers will now pay him a $4 million buyout. Quintana held a $15 million mutual option in his deal with a $2 million buyout.

Milwaukee also declined its $12 million team option on William Contreras, but unlike the other two, he remains under club control. Contreras signed a one-year contract with a team option for 2026 when he and the Brewers avoided arbitration before the 2025 season.

By declining the option, the Brewers believe that Contreras will earn less than $12 million in arbitration after he posted a season with a .754 on-base plus slugging percentage and 17 home runs while playing through a fractured finger on his glove hand most of the year.

Contreras has two years of team control left and will be a free agent after the 2027 season.
