LAS VEGAS — Major League Baseball is returning to Las Vegas next spring, as the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics will square off in a two-game Big League Weekend series on March 7-8 at Las Vegas Ballpark.

The Aviators, Triple-A affiliate of the Athletics, announced the matchup Wednesday. Both games are scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Pacific time. Individual game tickets go on sale Nov. 10 at noon through aviatorslv.com.

“We are excited to welcome back Big League Weekend to Las Vegas Ballpark,” Aviators president and COO Don Logan said. “We welcome our major league affiliate, the Athletics, back for a fifth visit to Las Vegas Ballpark for Spring Training games. The A’s will face the Angels for a two-game series, and it will also mark their first visit to Las Vegas Ballpark for Big League Weekend.”

The Angels will make their second appearance in Las Vegas for the event. The club last played in the city during Big League Weekend in 1996, when they also faced the Athletics at Cashman Field.

Oakland’s return continues a long history of spring appearances in the city. The A’s have played in Las Vegas 10 previous times, including nine prior Big League Weekends dating back to 1994. They also opened the 1996 regular season in Las Vegas due to stadium construction delays, marking the first MLB season opener ever held at a minor-league park.

This marks Oakland’s fifth Big League Weekend at Las Vegas Ballpark. The A’s beat Cleveland twice in the inaugural series in 2020 and split two games against the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this year in front of sellout crowds.

The Athletics finished 76-86 last season under manager Mark Kotsay, placing fourth in the American League West. The Angels went 72-90 and recently hired former catcher Kurt Suzuki as their new manager.

Las Vegas fans will also get an early look at some of the organization’s top young talent. The 2025 Aviators, who won the Pacific Coast League championship under manager Fran Riordan, sent 21 players to the Athletics during the season, including top prospects Denzel Clarke, Nick Kurtz, Darell Hernaiz and Colby Thomas.
