Schwarber is on the wrong side of 30, and the Phillies may be wary of handing him a long-term deal. While he has meant a lot to this team over the years, the Phillies also need some sort of change if they want to get over the hump to win with the group in place.

Schwarber has loved his time with the Phillies, but in free agency, money tends to dictate a lot in how things go down. And Schwarber likely understands that this may be his final large contract, so he may look to take the money.
