Logan Hedstrom continued his hot hitting with 10 RBIs in his past three games and drove in the game-winning run in the ninth inning as the Stoughton baseball team beat Sauk Prairie 2-1 in the first game of a Badger Small doubleheader on Monday, May 19, at Jaycee Park in Sauk City.

The Vikings beat the Eagles 7-4 in the nightcap to sweep the twinbill. Stoughton (10-13, 3-8 Badger Small) has won four straight games. The Vikings were coming off a 13-7 nonconference win over Monroe on Saturday, May 17, in Stoughton.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Hedstrom drove in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to clip the Eagles.

The Vikings tied the game at 1 when Saxton Wiest delivered an RBI single to center in the sixth. Stoughton’s Reign Altenburg went 3-for-4. Wiest pitched seven innings and gave up one earned run on seven hits. Altenburg tossed two shutout innings in relief and struck out four to earn the win.

In the second game, Hedstrom went 3-for-3 with five RBIs to lead Stoughton to a victory. Hedstrom had a two-run single in the Vikings’ three-run first. Stoughton’s Andy Reuter pitched four no-hit innings and gave up one earned run to earn the win. He struck out three and walked six.

Stoughton 13, Monroe 7

Hedstrom drove in four runs to lead Stoughton to a nonconference win.

The Vikings had only three hits, but were patient against a quartet of Monroe pitchers who combined walked 14. Givon Storkson walked three times and scored three runs. Wiest went 1-for-3 with one RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases. The Vikings used five pitchers. Wiest started and tossed two shutout innings.
