Antoine Jean is finishing a dominant college season with some hardware.
The left-hander was named Canadian player of the year by the Canadian Baseball Network on Thursday.
Jean, of Montreal, received 38 of 49 first-place votes from a panel including scouts, coaches, executives, former players and baseball writers.
The six-foot-two hurler, who was selected in the seventh round of the draft by the Colorado Rockies in July, posted a 5-1 record and 2.55 ERA in his senior season with the Houston Cougars.
His 110 strikeouts made him just the second Cougars reliever to ever cross the century mark in a single season. He also led the Big 12 in strikeouts per nine innings (14.78) and hits allowed per nine innings (5.37), ranking second nationally in both categories.
The Canadian Baseball Network award has been handed out annually for 26 years. Jean won it from a pool of 1,187 players who played the majority of their seasons in the U.S.
