CINCINNATI (WKRC) — The Cincinnati Reds announced several roster moves Thursday, including the reinstatement of six players from the 60-day injured list and the addition of a young right-hander from the St. Louis Cardinals.

The team claimed right-handed pitcher Roddery Muñoz off waivers, while left-hander Reiver Sanmartin was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants.

Muñoz, 25, has appeared in 27 Major League games (17 starts) across two seasons with the Miami Marlins (2024) and St. Louis Cardinals (2025). He spent most of last season with Triple-A Memphis, going 4-3 with a 3.28 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 38 relief appearances.

Sanmartin appeared in just one game last season, striking out two in 1 and 2/3 innings. The 29-year-old is 7-4 in 62 career MLB games with a 5.66 ERA.

The club reinstated right-hander Julian Aguiar, infielder Tyler Callihan, righty Rhett Lowder, righty Carson Spiers and lefty Brandon Williamson from the 60-day injured list.

The Reds also outrighted right-hander Sam Benschoter to Triple-A Louisville and selected the contract of right-hander José Franco from Louisville.

Franco, 24, split the 2025 season between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville, posting a 10-4 record and 3.11 ERA over 31 appearances, including 26 starts. He led all Reds minor leaguers in wins and ranked among organizational leaders in starts (tied for first), strikeouts (118, second) and innings pitched (110, fourth). Signed as a minor league free agent in 2018, he has spent five seasons in the Reds’ system.
