Immigration advocates and day laborers have called on the Los Angeles Dodgers to decline President Donald Trump’s invitation to the White House after their 2025 World Series victory.

Trump revealed on Truth Social that he had extended an invitation to the Dodgers following their World Series win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The team previously visited the White House after beating the New York Yankees to the title last year.

However, due to ongoing raids by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the Los Angeles region, the team is being encouraged to reject Trump’s offer. Public protests have already occurred, and immigration rights organizations have expressed their concerns through letters.

The National Day Laborer Organizing Network penned an open letter criticizing the Dodgers’ potential White House visit. “By visiting a president who has used his power to harm the most vulnerable, the team would be turning its back on the very people who fill the stadiums, wear the jerseys, and give this team its heart,” the letter stated.

The organization also reported having dispatched 5,600 letters, with plans to send an additional 800. A public protest was held at All Saints Church in Pasadena on Wednesday.

ICE and other law enforcement agencies have conducted hundreds of raids throughout Los Angeles since May, even being denied access to Dodger Stadium in June. These agencies have faced criticism for allegedly violating human rights policies, with reports of U.S. citizens also being arrested during the raids.

After meeting with the Dodgers in April, Trump extended another invitation to the MLB champions via Truth Social. “Congratulations to the L.A. Dodgers, a game won by incredible CHAMPIONS!!!” Trump posted.

“A lesser group of men would never have been able to win that game, or game 6, for that matter. So many stars made it all happen. Also, congratulations to ownership. What a great job they have done. SEE YOU ALL AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!!”

The Dodgers have not formally responded to the invitation, but only two players missed the trip to the White House this year.

Freddie Freeman didn’t attend due to an ankle injury, while Brusdar Graterol chose to decline the visit.

Graterol, a Venezuelan national, shared an image of himself and his daughter during the White House visit. He captioned the image: “In my brown house.”

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said it was “a great honor” to attend the White House, but the visit came months before the ICE controversy at Dodger Stadium. The MLB team denied federal authorities access to the stadium and parking lots and issued a statement on social media.

“This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots,” the Dodgers posted on X. “They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization.”

The Department of Homeland Security countered that they were not ICE agents but rather Customs and Border Protection officers. Yet, the purpose of their visit remains unannounced.
