DETROIT, Mich. — The Detroit Tigers have announced their 2026 spring training schedule, which includes a series of 29 exhibition games. The Tigers will kick off their spring season on Saturday, February 21, against the New York Yankees in Tampa, Florida.

One of the highlights of the Tigers’ schedule is an exhibition game against Team Panama on March 4 in Lakeland. This matchup is part of the preparations for the World Baseball Classic, which begins on March 6. Additionally, the Tigers will participate in the annual Spring Breakout prospect showcase on March 20, facing the Pittsburgh Pirates in Bradenton, Florida.

The Tigers will conclude their Florida-based games on March 21 with a match against the Yankees in Lakeland. Following this, they will travel to Scottsdale, Arizona, for two exhibition games against the Colorado Rockies on March 23 and 24. This off-site exhibition is part of their preparation for the regular season, which begins on March 26 with an away game against the San Diego Padres.

The Tigers’ home opener is scheduled for Friday, April 3, against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 2026 season marks the second consecutive year that the Tigers have opted for an off-site exhibition to gear up for a season-opening West Coast trip, similar to their 2025 spring training strategy.
