Munetaka Murakami

Munetaka Murakami is set to be the next Japanese baseball star coming to the MLB. After Shohei Ohtani made his impact, Roki Sasaki evolving into a top reliever, and then Yoshinobu Yamamoto made his impact felt immediately with a 1.45 ERA to help the Los Angeles Dodgers achieve a World Series Series, the expectations for Murakami will be high.

Munetaka Murakami has been called the “Japanese Babe Ruth”, adding to the expectations being high for him coming over. There will be numerous teams looking to add him to their rosters, but the team that makes the most sense to end up adding him is the New York Mets.

Munetaka Murakami Will Sign With the New York Mets

The New York Mets thought they were going all-in when they signed Juan Soto last offseason. That move did not pan out, as the Mets ended up missing the playoffs as a whole. They need to regroup as a team and figure out a better direction going forward for the team if they want to make a playoff push for real this time.

How the Mets can accomplish this is by is by signing Munetaka Murakami.

Back in August, New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns personally went to Japan to scout Murakami, showing New York already has interest. With Pete Alonso set to be a free agent after hitting 38 home runs this past season, they need the outfielder to replace him and his production in the lineup, which Munetaka Murakami can provide.

Munetaka Murakami played in 56 games this past season in the Nippon Professional Baseball, and ended up hitting 22 home runs. Over eight seasons playing in Japan, Murakami has 246 home runs, 722 RBIs, 678 walks, and a .273 batting average.

With him being just 25 years old and having immense skills, he makes as an ideal signing for the Mets to get younger and add a boost to their team for the future with his potential.
