An aerial drone view shows workers high atop the dome near one of the openings as panel installation continues on the roof at Tropicana Field on Nov. 5 in St. Petersburg. The Rays are scheduled to play their first nine games of the 2026 season on the road, then return to Tropicana Field — which had its roof ripped off by Hurricane Milton in October 2024 — for a pair of home-opening series against the Cubs and Yankees starting April 6. When the new Rays ownership group officially met with media last month, CEO Ken Babby said the Trop “is going to look better than it has ever looked” once repairs are complete, and they are working to improve the fan experience, which will include a new video board and sound system. But first, a new roof, with crews working on installing the 19th of the 24 panels, and the full job on track to be completed by late December.
