For the San Francisco Giants, that’s a list of 14 guys.
Either players at the end of their first six years in pro ball, or veterans on shorter minor league deals, have now headed to free agency after finishing the season in the Giants’ system.
Those 14 names were released by Baseball America:
Hjelle has the most MLB experience of the pitchers on the list.
Two guys surely to get signed are the catchers, Huff and Stassi. Both have spent ample time in the major leagues, and catching depth is always crucial.
The Giants could work to re-sign some of these guys, or they could dig into the lists of minor league free agents who have just departed other organizations. It’s a part of the normal offseason cadence, and that time of year is officially here.
