MINNEAPOLIS — Rainy weather in Minnesota has forced the postponement of another game between the Guardians and Twins.

After waiting through two separate delays on Monday at Target Field, Cleveland and Minnesota hoped to resume their suspended game Tuesday and then play the regularly scheduled contest 30 minutes later. But Mother Nature had other ideas.

Instead, the two teams will try again Wednesday to finish Monday’s suspended game beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET. Thirty minutes after the conclusion of that game, they will try to play Wednesday’s regularly scheduled affair. But the forecast for greater Minneapolis does not look promising on either front.

Both teams intend to use bullpen arms to complete the first game Wednesday. Cleveland could send left-hander Kolby Allard (2-0, 1.06) out to the mound when the game resumes. Allard has made six appearances for the Guards, pitching multiple innings in four of those outings. Righty Jakob Junis is another option. Junis has pitched in 20 games, including three multi-inning outings and he last appeared Saturday in Cincinnati.

Both teams will be afforded a 27th spot on their rosters for a pitcher who can only appear in the regularly scheduled Wednesday game. Righty Gavin Williams (3-2, 4.29) and right-hander Chris Paddack (1-3, 4.76) will start Wednesday’s second game, weather permitting.

Tuesday’s game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader at Target Field beginning at 2:10 p.m. ET on Sept. 20.

Tuesday marks Cleveland’s third game postponed due to weather this season, and second on the road. The club’s April 25 scheduled home game against Boston was rained out and made up as part of a doubleheader on April 26. A May 5 scheduled game in Washington, D.C. was made up as part of a doubleheader the following day against the Nationals.

Cleveland split both doubleheaders against the Red Sox and Nats after going 0 for 8 in doubleheader games last season.
