Tennessee baseball’s Nov. 9 Orange & White scrimmage at Covenant Health Park has been canceled. The Knoxville Smokies shared the information on X and Tennessee baseball shared the post.
The decision process was two-fold: A winter storm is coming in (game time was already changed once because of it) and One Knox soccer advanced to a championship game at home so crews want to keep the field in top shape.
Converting the playing field from soccer to baseball and back to soccer in a week with frigid temperatures “could pose a risk to the field conversion and players’ safety,” the Knoxville Smokies posted on X.
All tickets will be automatically refunded.
The game was going to be the first chance to see the Vols under coach Josh Elander, who was hired on Oct. 25 following Tony Vitello‘s departure to manage the San Francisco Giants.
