The Atlanta Braves are in the process of building their roster for next season. Adding depth will be important for the Braves, and one potential depth piece from within their organization has elected free agency.
David Fletcher on Thursday elected free agency from the Braves, according to his MLB.com transactions log. Fletcher did not appear in the big leagues for the Braves last season, but played 83 games for the Braves in the minor leagues. He spent time in Double-A and Triple-A.
He did not have a great season, carrying a .491 OPS across two minor league levels. He played in eight games for the Braves in 2024 after the team acquired him from the Angels in December before the season. He went 2-for-8 in those eight games. He has played in a total of 539 games in the big leagues.

He spent six seasons with the Los Angeles Angels before he was traded to the Braves. With the Angels, he was a solid player. He had a .272/.323/.359 slash line with 16 home runs. He is not a power threat by any means, but he is a versatile defender with a decent career batting average.
Even though Fletcher did not get a chance to play with the Braves last season, he could have been a good piece to have in the minor leagues in case the Braves deal with an array of injuries. He can play shortstop, second base and third base. He may be able to find a minor league deal with an easier path to the big leagues.
