Players around the league are making decisions on their future, and the Boston Red Sox are losing some minor league players to free agency. Isaiah Campbell is one of many Red Sox minor leaguers who have elected to enter free agency, according to his transaction log.

The Red Sox acquired Campbell from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for infielder Luis Urías after the 2023 season. In 2023, Campbell had a 2.83 ERA in 23 games for the Mariners as a rookie.

Campbell dealt with injuries throughout the 2024 season and only pitched in 22 games between the big leagues and Triple-A. He had a 2.20 ERA in 14 games in Triple-A, but did not have much success in the big leagues. He gave up 12 earned runs in eight games.

He did not have much success with the Red Sox in 2024, and the team designated him for assignment. Campbell elected free agency, but the Red Sox re-signed him on a minor league contract soon after. Last season, he pitched in six games for the Red Sox and gave up six earned runs in 7 2/3 innings of work.

Campbell also struggled in Triple-A last year. He posted a 3.90 ERA in 43 games with Worcester. On Oct. 16, the Red Sox sent him outright to Worcester, and he elected free agency on Nov. 6.

He could re-sign with the Red Sox on a minor league deal like he did before last season. However, after two years without much success at the big league level, he may be interested in a change.

As a rookie with the Mariners, Campbell showed promise. A new team may be willing to take a chance on him. However, if he does end up back with the Red Sox, the team will hope to find a way to get him back to playing like he did with the Mariners.

He was the No. 17 prospect in the Mariners organization in 2023, according to MLB Pipeline. He has talent, but has been unable to tap into it consistently.
