Tennessee was set to conclude the fall practice window on Sunday with Game 3 of the annual Fall World Series at Covenant Health Ballpark in downtown Knoxville. The game will not be played at the Smokies venue, however, and will instead take place at Lindsey Nelson Stadium at 2 p.m. ET. The scrimmage will be closed to the public.

Due to ‘impending weather and temperatures on the way’, the original game time was moved up two hours from 5 p.m. ET to 3 p.m. ET earlier on Saturday. The Smokies X account put out a statement late Saturday night on the reason for the cancellation.

“Tomorrow’s game has been cancelled due to impending weather and freezing temperatures, which could pose a risk to the field conversion and players safety ahead of One Knox’s upcoming Championship game. All tickets purchased from Ticketmaster will be refunded automatically.”

The first two games of the Tennessee Fall World Series were played this weekend at Lindsey Nelson Stadium with each team winning one apiece, 6-0 and 6-4.

Orange took control of the opener with a four-run fifth inning that saw runs driven in by Hutson Chance, Trent Grindlinger, Reese Chapman and Tyler Myatt. Reece Chapman plated the first run of the ballgame with an RBI groundout in the first while Stone Lawless drove in a run in the fifth on a single.

On Saturday, transfer Blaine Brown launched a three-run home run. Levi Clark drove in two runs and also homered while Jay Abernathy scored in the first inning.

Tennessee began the fall practice window on September 25 and already made a trip to Chattanooga’s AT&T Field on October 4. The Vols were scheduled to be in Nashville on Sunday, October 26 for an intrasquad at First Horizon Ballpark, but rain washed it out.

Former Tennessee coach Tony Vitello made history last month accepting the managerial position for the San Francisco Giants, becoming the first sitting college coach with no prior professional playing or coaching experience to be named manager. Associate head coach Josh Elander was hired to take his place.

Tennessee baseball released the complete 2026 schedule on Thursday in what will be the first year led by Elander as head coach. The Vols will play at the newly renovated Lindsey Nelson Stadium a total of 38 times in 2026 with 15 away bouts and three contests on a neutral field.

The Vols’ nonconference slate, which was officially released on Thursday to complete the slate, consists of 38 games with the season-opener against Nicholls State on February 13. The first midweek contest will be against UNC Asheville on February 17. Tennessee will host three nonconference weekend series at home (Nicholls State, Kent State and Wright State) to go along with 14 midweek home bouts.

The 30-game Southeastern Conference slate was previously announced earlier in the offseason, as were the three games set to be played in Arlington, TX. at Globe Life Field for the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series. Tennessee is set to play UCLA, Arizona State and Virginia Tech in what will be its second trip in three years to the Major League Baseball Stadium.

The television schedule for the season will be released at a later date but all games will be available via streaming. All times subject to change.
