The San Francisco Giants announced today that former manager Bruce Bochy has returned to the organization as a Special Advisor to Baseball Operations. In his new role, Bochy will perform duties on both the baseball and business sides.

“We are thrilled to welcome Boch back to the Giants family as a Special Advisor to Baseball Operations,” said Larry Baer, Giants President & CEO. “Few people in baseball have his depth of knowledge, insight, and lived experience of the game. He shares a rich history with our organization and fans, and it’s special to have him back in orange and black.”

More on Giants Special Advisor Bruce Bochy

“Having Boch back in the organization means a great deal to all of us,” said Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey. “His experience, leadership, and feel for the game are unmatched, and his perspective will be invaluable as we continue building towards sustained success.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to reconnect with the Giants organization and so many familiar faces,” said Bochy. “This organization and city mean a lot to me and my family, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute in any way I can.”

Bruce Bochy, 70, managed the Giants for 13 seasons (2007-2019) and guided the club to three World Series titles (2010, 2012, 2014). After retiring from managing in 2019, he worked as a Special Advisor for the Giants for three years (2020-2022) before accepting the job as Manager for the Texas Rangers. In his first season as Texas’ manager, he guided the Rangers to the 2023 World Series championship. He parted ways with the Rangers following the 2025 season.

During his 28-year managerial career with the Padres (1995-2006), Giants (2007-2019), and Rangers (2023-2025), he compiled 2,252 victories, the sixth-most by any manager in MLB history, and his 4,518 games managed are fourth-most all-time.

He’s the only manager in MLB history to win 900-plus games with multiple franchises, winning 951 games with San Diego and 1,052 with San Francisco, the second-most managerial wins by a Giants manager behind Hall of Famer John McGraw.

Bruce Bochy’s 2023 World Series title with Texas made him just the sixth manager in MLB history to win four championships, with the previous five all inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

Additionally, he joined Bill McKechnie and Dick Williams as the only managers in MLB history to lead three different franchises to the World Series.
