After the Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2025 World Series over the Toronto Blue Jays, MMA reporter Ariel Helwani expressed his distaste with the Dodgers’ celebrations.

Specifically, Helwani went after Dodgers utility player Kiké Hernandez and the manner in which he celebrated his third World Series championship. Helwani attacked Hernandez about his lack of contribution during the series.

“And then the Kiké Hernández thing, did you guys see?” Helwani said. “He quoted the famous Conor McGregor UFC 205 interview. ‘Apologize to no one.’ But the setup was just… He fumbled his way through it, if we’re being honest. He called himself the triple champ. I mean, yeah, you got an A on the group project, Kiké. Let’s be honest, okay? I mean, if Pages didn’t catch that ball, you’re remembered for the guy who missed Ernie Clement’s fly ball, okay?”

“I thought the Dodgers looked like jackasses”

Upon seeing Helwani’s comments, Hernandez responded to him on Instagram.

“Suck it!” Hernandez said, tagging Helwani. “Does 3x World Series Champ sound better than Triple Champ?”

While Hernandez didn’t have the best World Series, recording just two hits through the seven games, he had extremely important contributions throughout the Dodgers’ three prior postseason series.

Hernandez ended the NLCS with a .306 batting average through 10 postseason games, and managed four RBIs during those first three rounds. He also hit a home run against the Blue Jays in the World Series, though the Dodgers went on to lose that game, 6-1.

After Hernandez’s comments, Helwani has made a few responses on social media, claiming he lives ‘rent free’ in Hernandez’s head. With the growing hostility between the two fanbases in the wake of the World Series, the Dodgers may have found themselves a new rival in the American League.
