Former Missouri State University catcher Drake Baldwin was named National League Rookie of the Year on Monday, Nov. 10.

Baldwin, 24, received 21 first-place votes, more than twice as many as the second place finisher, Cade Horton.

Baldwin hit .274 with 19 home runs and 80 RBIs this season for the Atlanta Braves.

Baldwin played three seasons at Missouri State, including the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season.

He was a two time all-MVC second team selection and in 2022 was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team, the MVC All-Tournament Team and the ABCA All-South Region First Team.

During his junior season, his last at MSU, Baldwin was second in the Missouri Valley Conference in home runs with 19 and led the conference in RBIs with 70.

After the season, he was drafted in the third round, 96th overall, by the Braves.
