Branding removed from Houston Astros’ ballpark, construction for ‘Daikin Park’ rebrand underway

A rebrand is underway for the iconic ballpark home to the Houston Astros.

The Astros’ ballpark, which has been known as “Minute Maid Park” for the last 22 years, is now rebranding as “Daikin Park,” after the Japanese air conditioning conglomerate agreed to acquire the stadium’s naming rights.

The new name was first announced in Nov. 2024, and the new name officially went into effect on Jan. 1, 2025. The Daikin brand has a Texas connection, as its independent subsidiary Goodman Manufacturing operates out of Waller.

The Astros’ ballpark first opened in 2000, under the name “Enron Field.” After the company’s infamous accounting scandal led to its bankruptcy, the Astros agreed to end the partnership and rename the stadium in 2002, paving the way for Coca-Cola-owned juice giant Minute Maid to acquire the naming rights.

The Astros saw their most successful era in team history during the Minute Maid Park era, and the ballpark became affectionately known as the “Juice Box.” The stadium’s train cart filled with oranges in left field became an iconic symbol for both the team and the Minute Maid brand.

The team will have some work to do to familiarize fans with the Daikin brand with the stadium’s identity in the 2025 MLB season.

Minute Maid will remain a partner with the Astros through 2029, according to a report from the Associated Press.
