Shohei Ohtani blasted a two-run home run, his ninth of the season, as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Miami Marlins 7-4 on Monday.
The reigning National League MVP sent a fastball from Sandy Alcantara into the Dodgers bullpen in right field to extend the team’s lead to 5-0 in the fifth inning at loanDepot park in Miami, Florida.
It was the hardest-hit home run in Major League Baseball this season, coming off his bat at 117.9 miles per hour (189.7 kilometers per hour), according to MLB.com.

Ohtani made history at this stadium on Sept. 19, 2024, when he became the first player in MLB history to reach 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in the same season.
“He (Alcantara) throws really hard, and that’s why my shot sailed strongly, I think,” Ohtani said of his second home run in three games. “It’s a confidence boost as I homered off a great pitcher in a clutch situation.”

For the Dodgers, Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer in the third and South Korean rookie Kim Hye Seong had the first two hits of his major league career with a pair of singles, the second driving in a run in the sixth inning.
