John Talt’s squeeze bunt in the bottom of the 10th inning drove in Thomas Costarelli to lead No. 2 East Islip over No. 7 Rocky Point, 1-0, in the first round of the double-elimination Suffolk Class AA baseball playoffs on Tuesday. Costarelli reached base on a hit by pitch, stole second and advanced to third on Mike Tramaglini’s single. Lucas Patton was then walked to load the bases with no outs before the walk-off bunt. Costarelli struck out 10 and allowed three hits in nine innings. Talt pitched the top of the 10th inning for the win. East Islip (19-2) will host No. 6 Hauppauge at 4 p.m. on Thursday in the winners bracket. Ryan Loughlin pitched seven scoreless innings for Rocky Point (11-8), which will visit No. 3 West Babylon at 4 p.m. Thursday in an elimination game.

Oceanside 2, Port Washington 1: Matt Vlahakis hit a single in the bottom of the sixth that drove in Jack Regan and Luke Villella to lead No. 3 Oceanside over No. 6 Port Washington in the Nassau Class AAA play-in game. Villella allowed one run and four hits and struck out four in five innings. Dylan Beirne pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Oceanside (14-5) will travel to No. 2 Massapequa for Game 1 of a best-of-three semifinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Sachem North 8, Newfield 2: Ryan Palm pitched six scoreless innings, allowing two hits with no walks and three strikeouts, to lead No. 4 Sachem North over No. 13 Newfield in the first round of the Suffolk Class AAA playoffs. Matt Podesta had two RBIs and a run, and Joey Vulin went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Sachem North (16-5) will face the winner of No. 5 Sachem East against No. 12 Riverhead at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Newfield (11-10) will drop to the elimination bracket.

SOFTBALL

Connetquot 2, North Babylon 0: Lyla Camacho went 2-for-2 with an RBI and pitched a complete-game shutout in No. 5 Connetquot’s win over No. 12 North Babylon in the first round of the Suffolk Class AAA playoffs. Connetquot (13-6) will play at No. 4 Patchogue-Medford at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.

Central Islip 8, Sachem East 6: Stevey Duval allowed three earned runs with 10 strikeouts in No. 10 Central Islip’s win over No. 7 Sachem East in the Suffolk Class AAA playoffs. Mariella Mills went 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Jaida Mills and Jada Lello each drove in two runs. Central Islip (12-7) will play at No. 2 Sachem North at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Sachem East (11-8) will drop down to the elimination bracket.

Smithtown West 3, Hauppauge 1: Erin McDaid threw a complete game, allowing oneunearned run with 16 strikeouts in No. 2 Smithtown West’s win over No. 7 Hauppauge in the first round of the Suffolk Class AA playoffs. Victoria Lisena got the Bulls on the board with a sac fly. Jiselle Singh doubled in the winning run and Gianna Portigiano drove in an insurance run with a sac fly. Smithtown West (13-7) will host No. 3 Eastport-South Manor or No. 6 Comsewogue at 4 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals. Hauppauge (11-8) will face the loser of ESM- Comsewogue in the elimination bracket.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Connetquot 17, Half Hollow Hills 4: Sydney Elizalde had five goals and one assist to lead No. 6 Connetquot over No. 11 Hills in the Suffolk I playoffs. Natalie Insinga had four goals and one assist. Ellianna LaGreca had two goals for Hills (9-8). Connetquot (11-6) will travel to No. 3 Northport at noon on Friday for the quarterfinals.

BOYS GOLF

Prosa wins CHSAA title. Nick Prosa shot 1-over-par 73 to capture his first CHSAA individual title at Eisenhower Red. The St. Anthony’s senior improved his second-place finish at last year’s tournament by two strokes. Prosa led the Friars to their fourth team crown in five years. Jacob Andersen and Joe Boron had 74s and Gio Giaquinto a 79.
