The Los Angeles Dodgers became baseball’s first back-to-back champions in a quarter century, but according to ESPN insider Jeff Passan, they appear to be far from satisfied as they look to add on to their talented team.

“They never run it back. They always are looking to add,” Passan said.

As the offseason continues to take shape, the Dodgers will likely look to bolster one of the biggest points of contention on their roster last year: the bullpen. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal recently linked LA to Tampa Bay Rays right-handed reliever Pete Fairbanks after his $11 million team option was declined.

Fairbanks, who will be 32 years old in December, pitched a career-high 60.1 innings last season, collected a career-high 27 saves, and tossed a 2.83 ERA. His average fastball velocity of 97.3 mph ranked in the 90th percentile of MLB last season, and he limited opposing batters’ barrel percentage to just 4.8 percent, putting him in the 93rd percentile.

It’s currently unclear why Tampa Bay did not pick up his option, but the Dodgers appeared to need any kind of relief amid their bullpen struggles last season and Fairbanks would be an incredible option.

His fastball was slightly down from a few years ago, but has still proven to be effective, and Fairbanks uses it 51.1 percent of the time. It works in accordance with his slider (thrown 39.8 percent of the time), which proves to be one of his most effective offerings.

The slider generated a batting average of just .173 and a swing-and-miss rate of 30.8 percent. If the Dodgers are able to strike a deal for a price that satisfies both sides, perhaps he will look to be a potential answer to the Dodgers’ bullpen struggles.
