Jarren Duran
As the 2025 MLB offseason is still in the early stages, rumors of MLB Free Agency signings and trade possibilities continue to swirl. One of the recent trade candidates popping up is Jarren Duran from the Boston Red Sox.

While the 2025 season saw him regress a bit, Jarren Duran was still productive. The reason that Duran finds himself in trade rumors again, just as he did at the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline, is due to the logjam the Red Sox have with their outfield. Ceddanne Rafaela and Roman Anthony made major strides this past season, enough to warrant more playing time in the future as they seem to be the rising young stars in Boston.

Boston has the outfielder depth, making Jarren Duran a key trade candidate for them as they look to allocate money elsewhere like building out their pitching depth. If the Red Sox go through with trading Duran, the team that makes the most sense to trade for him is the Kansas City Royals.

Boston Red Sox Trade Jarren Duran to the Kansas City Royals

After winning 86 games and making the MLB Playoffs in 2024, the 2025 season was a letdown for the Kansas City Royals as they finished with an 82-80 record and fell short of making the MLB Playoffs. One thing that held them back was clear, and it was the lack of talent they had in their batting lineup outside of Bobby Witt Jr. and their lack of talent in the outfield.

This must be something the Royals make a priority to fix this offseason, and a trade for Jarren Duran gives them the ability to fix both. Duran is coming off a 2025 season in which he had a slash line of .256/.332/.442 with 16 home runs and 84 RBIs. Over his entire career, he has a slash line of .267/.328/.452 with 50 home runs and 226 RBIs.

With Jarren Duran’s ability to be a power-speed threat in the lineup with his batting consistency alongside Witt Jr., the Royals would get a major boost to their offensive production. In addition, Duran’s defense in the outfield, where he could play as a centerfielder or in left field, would be valuable to them as well to fix the defensive end.

In return, the Red Sox could look to get Kris Bubic, who would drastically help their pitching, making this a win-win trade for both sides.
