Major League Baseball’s general managers are meeting in Las Vegas this week and the postseason honors continue with the AP awards.  While the GM meetings aren’t as high profile as the Winer Meetings next month, there is still some action going on.  The Pirates have signed soft-tossing left-hander Joe LaSorsa to a minor league deal.  He’s played for the Nationals and the Reds, mostly in the minors.  He threw six-and-two-thirds innings for Cincinnati last season with a 10.80 ERA.

After A’s first baseman Nick Kurtz and Braves catcher Drake Baldwin won the American and National League Rookie of the Year Awards on Monday, the Brewers’ Pat Murphy and Guardians’ Stephen Vogt both won their second consecutive Manager of the Year Awards last night.  Tonight, the Pirates’ Paul Skenes is a finalist (and the favorite) for the National League Cy Young Award and Detroit’s Tarik Skubal is favored to win his second straight Cy Young in the AL.  Tomorrow night, the league MVPs will be announced.
