Professional baseball catcher for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball, Jose Trevino, hosted his annual golf tournament on Wednesday to raise money for St John Paul II Academy’s athletic department for equipment.Â
The 2nd Annual Centurion Golf Classic took place at the Gabe Lozano Golf Center with prizes available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, as well as a longest drive and putting contest.Â
Trevino was born in Corpus Christi and attended high school at St. John Paul II Academy. He organizes other local events, such as the annual Winter World Series youth tournament and Trevino’s Toy Drive, to give back to his hometown.
Trevino said, “To raise awareness that there is a good school. John Paul is a great school; it was good for me, good for my family, and I think just giving back  to it is one of the most important things for me.”
