The Toronto Blue Jays found themselves once again in second place on Tuesday night.
A little over a week after the end of the World Series, the results came in for American League Manager of the Year, with the Cleveland Guardians’ Stephen Vogt winning the award for the second season in a row.
And while Blue Jays fans have had their qualms with him over the years, they appeared stunned that Toronto manager John Schneider didn’t win after taking a last-place team from a year ago to the verge of winning the World Series.

Blue Jays fans weren’t exactly hiding their displeasure with the results, which were voted on by a league-wide media panel.
“The RCMP and the FBI should be conducting an investigation into this. How the hell was John Schneider not voted manager of the year in the American League? Utter nonsense,” X user @dannogallagher7 wrote.

Vogt received 17 first-place votes, compared to 10 for Schneider.
“The league hates Toronto, plain and simple,” user @plswinbluejays chimed in on X.
A few media members also shared their opinion, who appeared to be similarly dumbfounded by the results.
“John Schneider got absolutely robbed,” Just Baseball’s Peter Appel wrote on X. “The Jays had a 76.5 preseason win total and won 94 games. Preseason majority assumed a last-place finish, like they did the year before. Just terrible. Makes no sense.”
“John Schneider got absolutely robbed, give me a break, man,” Sportsnet’s Jesse Rubninoff also said, expressing a verbatim disbelief as Appel.
In any case, Schneider himself probably won’t lose too much sleep over the result, given that he seems to have always approached the sport with a “put yesterday behind you” approach.
But if the Jays have another good year next year, expect Toronto fans to be backing their guy once again when the season comes to an end.
